China’s new energy vehicle output up 111.0 percent in January-August

In August this year, China produced 42,000 new energy vehicles, up 81.5 percent year on year, including 32,000 pure electric passenger cars and 10,000 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, up 114.8 percent and 23.1 percent year on year, respectively, according to latest data issued by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

In the January-August period of the current year, China’s new energy vehicle output amounted to 258,000 units, up 111.0 percent on year-on-year basis, including 194,000 pure electric passenger cars and 64,000 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, rising by 145.5 percent and 48.2 percent year on year, respectively.
