China’s steel sheet and plate exports up 32.3 percent in Jan-May

China’s steel sheet/plate exports totaled 30.64 million mt in the January-May period this year, up 32.3 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

In May alone, China exported 6.5 million mt of steel sheet/plate, up 20.5 percent year on year, while up 4.8 percent month on month.

In May, China’s HRC export prices remained stable during May 1-13, while edged down later, though bottomed up later, and indicated declines by the end of May, with the highest level of $550 being seen during May 1-13 and May 21-27, and the lowest level of $540/mt being seen during May 17-20, according to SteelOrbis’ data.
