US-based JSW Steel USA, a subsidiary of Indian steelmaker JSW Steel, has announced that it plans to invest $110 million to upgrade its plate mill in Baytown, Texas. The modernization project includes installation of state-of-the-art equipment at the plant.
The investment will enable the production of high-quality monopile steel slabs to support the US Administration’s new actions to expand offshore wind energy by 2030.
In addition, the company’s $145 million investment in its Mingo Junction facility to upgrade its clean steel manufacturing processes is expected to be completed and commissioned by 2026.
In 2022, JSW Steel USA had invested $260 million in modernization of its plate mill in Baytown, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
