Trade competition between Russia and China becomes furious

Tuesday, 08 November 2011 11:31:07 (GMT+3)   |

According to the Russian newspaper Коммерсант, steel plate import volume from Asian countries to Russia increased by nine times in the first six months of the current year, accounting for 66 percent in Russian market.

Russian Steel Association has conducted an antidumping investigation regarding Chinese steel plate at the beginning of this year, since Chinese steel plate prices for Russia are 11 percent lower than that of other countries. As a result dumping margin rate of 17.6 percent has been determined.

As a response, China performed antidumping investigation on Russian grain-oriented electric steel and determined the dumping margin rate at 65.2 percent. It is reported that import grain-oriented electrical steel accounted for 76 percent of Chinese electric steel consumption in 2005, this figure is likely to decrease to 35 percent in 2011.
