In December last year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 6.3 percent month on month to 33,593 mt, down by 86.77 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $20.12 million, down 8.3 percent month on month and down 84.7 percent year on year.
Last year, Turkey's billet import volume amounted to 954,526 mt, falling by 58.2 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 46.3 percent to $551.65 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 461,271 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 42.63 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Ukraine which supplied 220,298 mt in the given period.
