In July this year, Turkey's slab imports amounted to 167,266 mt, falling by 58.66 percent year on year and down 32.3 compared to June, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's slab imports in the given month was $58.4 million, down 33 percent compared to July 2015 and falling by 58.24 percent month on month.
During the first seven months of the current year, Turkey's slab imports decreased by 42.6 percent to 1.06 million mt, while the value of these imports decreased by 54.4 percent to $309.16 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey imported 466,523 metric tons of slab from Brazil. Brazil was Turkey's largest slab import source in the period in question, followed by Russia, which supplied 190,802 mt in the given period.
