According to market sources, Macedonia-based Makstil's plate offers for Turkey are now standing at $780-790/mt CFR Turkey for December shipment, indicating a decline of $20/mt over the past month. Demand for Macedonian plate is still weak in the Turkish market despite falling prices.
On the other hand, Ukrainian steel producer Metinvest, which started to give offers again last month, has decreased its offers by $15/mt to Turkey over the same period to $580/mt CFR, for January shipments.
Turkish buyers predict that global plate prices will continue their downtrend and they plan to wait until the end of the year before concluding any transactions.
