In August this year, new passenger car registrations in the German market fell by five percent year on year to 226,600 units and were down 8.6 percent compared to July, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the first eight months of this year Germany's new car registrations fell by one percent year on year, totaling 2.1 million units.
During August this year a total of 284,400 passenger cars were exported from Germany, up one percent compared to August 2011 and down 16.9 percent month on month. In the first eight months of the year, German passenger car exports amounted to 2.8 million units, remaining unchanged compared to the same period last year. On the other hand, 368,300 cars were produced in Germany in August, falling one percent compared to the same month of the previous year and down 19.5 percent month on month. German car output in the first eight months of 2012 amounted to 3.7 million units, stable on year-on-year basis.
In August, new commercial vehicle registrations in the Germany fell by six percent year on year to 23,870 units, while in the first eight months of this year new commercial vehicle registrations in the country fell by two percent year on year, totaling 208,420 units.
