Germany’s car output up 17 percent in April

In April this year, Germany's passenger car output rose by 5.5 percent month on month to 500,800 units, and was up 17 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year Germany's car output fell five percent year on year, totaling 1,832,100 units.

During April this year, a total of 367,300 passenger cars were exported from Germany, stable compared to the previous month and up 11 percent from April 2012. In the first four months of the year, German passenger car exports amounted to 1,402,600 units, decreasing four percent compared to the same period last year. On the other hand, 284,500 new cars were registered in Germany in April, rising 1.2 percent month on month and up four percent compared to the same month of the previous year. German new car registrations in the first four months of 2013 amounted to 958,500 units, down nine percent year on year.
