According to the data released by the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), in February this year Germany's passenger car output rose by 18.2 percent month on month to 466,100 units, down eight percent compared to the same month last year.
During the month in question, German passenger car sales amounted to 200,700 units, decreasing by 11 percent compared to February last year. While importers recorded a fall of nine percent in sales in the German market, the domestic sales of German brands went down by 11 percent year on year to 140,200 new vehicles. In addition, Germany's passenger car exports declined by 10 percent year on year in February to 358,200 units.
In February, new commercial vehicle registrations in Germany fell by 14 percent year on year to 18,220 units, while they were down by 8.5 percent compared to January.
Meanwhile, in the first two months of this year Germany's new car registrations fell by 10 percent year on year, totaling 392,800 units. German car output in the first two months amounted to 863,700 units, falling nine percent on year-on-year basis, while German passenger car exports amounted to 668,900 units, also falling by nine percent compared to the same period last year. On the other hand, in the first two months of this year new commercial vehicle registrations in the country fell by 15 percent year on year, totaling 38,130 units.
