According to the preliminary statistics provided by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in April this year Turkey's total steel product exports amounted to 1.51 million metric tons, decreasing by 13.53 percent year on year and down 3.2 percent compared to March this year. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $1.08 billion, up by 11.64 percent compared to April last year and up 4.32 percent month on month.
In April, steel bar exports (including rebar) accounted for 32.06 percent of the country's total steel product exports, while section exports constituted 8.88 percent, exports of steel billet made up 19.46 percent, slab exports accounted for 6.26 percent, exports of pipes and fittings constituted 9.53 percent, wire rod exports accounted for 9.32 percent and flat steel exports for 7.41 percent.
On the other hand, in the first four months of this year, the country's total steel product exports reached 5.36 million metric tons, while the revenue generated by these exports amounted to $3.6 billion, decreasing by 20.38 percent and 6.91 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
